Aranđelovac: Park, Culture and Special Excursions

Aranđelovac combines protected parkland, Serbian history, archaeological discoveries and excursions into the surrounding area. Bukovičke Banje Park lies on the edge of the town centre and covers more than 22 hectares. It is protected as a category II natural monument and as an area of great importance. Marked hiking trails begin in the park and lead to the summit of Mount Bukulja. The mineral waters are another distinctive feature of Bukovička Banja. They are classified as rare cold waters and hypothermal medicinal waters. Architecture, art and archaeology

The “Staro zdanje” stands in the park. It is the oldest surviving building in Bukovičke banje Park and a representative example of Serbian Romantic architecture. Its construction began in 1865 on the orders of Prince Mihailo Obrenović; it was intended as the summer residence of the Obrenović dynasty. Together with the “Staro zdanje” and the National Museum’s collection, this creates a cultural programme that combines historical periods with modern sculpture.

Wine, lake and excursions in the surrounding area

Every weekend, Vinarija Veličković organises guided tours of the winery and vineyards as well as wine tastings. Registration is compulsory and must be completed no later than three days in advance. Lake Garaši is 6 km from Aranđelovac via an asphalt road and offers good conditions for fishing. The lake is also home to an outdoor swimming pool operated by SRC “Šumadija”, small-sided football and beach volleyball courts, and a restaurant with a veranda. These facilities form part of the local leisure offering. A visit to Orašac adds a historical perspective: in the village near Aranđelovac, the uprising of the First Serbian Uprising was agreed on 15 February 1804, and Karađorđe Petrović was proclaimed its supreme leader.

Various events for the youngest visitors take place in the town square as part of “Ulica nasmejanih lica”. Their character ranges from educational and entertainment activities to sports and recreational offerings. The event includes sessions held every Friday from June to September.
