Brzeće – Nature Experiences on Kopaonik

Brzeće is an exciting starting point for a trip that combines nature, mountain scenery and winter activities. Kopaonik National Park can be accessed via Brzeće; along with Jošanička Banja and Raška, the town is one of the national park’s three access routes. Brzeće is therefore suited to travellers who do not want to spend their stay only at their accommodation, but also want to explore the landscape and its special attractions.

Natural attractions around Brzeće

One prominent destination is Jelovarnik Waterfall. It can be reached from Brzeće via Mramor Pass. The local gravel road Brzeće–Mramor–Zaplanina Mine provides access to the waterfall. On site, a prepared path approximately 150 metres long leads to Jelovarnik. At the same time, the waterfall is a natural monument and strictly protected from all activities. This combination of accessibility and protection makes it clear that respectful treatment of the surroundings should be the focus of any visit.

Malo Metođe also offers several different impressions. The excursion site is located at the exit from Brzeće, on the way up to Kopaonik. There are picnic areas for visitors as well as four watermills on the stream that forms the Graševačka River. Malo Metođe thus combines a specific landscape setting with traces of traditional use. For families, this can be an appealing addition to a more active day, as it brings together nature observation, a shared picnic and a culturally interesting detail.

Hiking, pilgrimage site and winter days

Near Malo Metođe, a mountain hiking trail leads to the 4th-century sanctuary of Metođe. Metođe is also a traditional pilgrimage site associated with Saint Methodius, as well as a nature reserve in Kopaonik National Park. This gives you a choice between different travel interests: you can focus on nature and landscape, plan a mountain hike or discover a place of religious and historical significance.

In winter, skiing is one of the activities available in Brzeće. The Brzeće–Mali Karaman gondola lift provides an additional point of orientation. It is 3,741 metres long and overcomes an elevation difference of 843 metres. The Brzeće tourist centre offers opportunities for nature lovers, skiers and mountain hikers. At the entrance stands a 10-metre-high illuminated cross that is visible to passing travellers and tourists.
