Korovino on the Juchot
Accommodation in Korovino
Korovino on the Juchot
Korovino lies on the southern, left bank of the Juchot, near its mouth. The creation of the Rybinsk Reservoir significantly widened the mouth in the area around the village, forming a reservoir inlet 200–300 m wide. The riverbank and widened mouth area therefore define the local landscape. If you are specifically looking for a holiday apartment in a place on the Juchot, this distinctive feature helps you locate Korovino.
Nature highlights in Yaroslavl Oblast
The wider destination of Yaroslavl Oblast also offers a distinct focus on nature and water. Pleshcheyevo Ozero National Park is a federally significant nature reserve and an important site for nature conservation, environmental education, and recreation. Its landscape is distinguished by great natural diversity, rare or well-preserved typical communities, and rare and endangered plant and animal species. On the northeastern shore of Lake Pleshcheyevo, the approximately one-kilometer-long “V gostyakh u Seroy Tsapli” ecological walking trail runs through an open shoreline area right by the water. The trail includes a wooden boardwalk, a lookout tower on the lakeshore, and three information panels. Visitors can also learn about approximately 50 bird species that live there and their biology. Opposite the turnoff to Gorodishche, a sailing area and a National Park boat station are located on the northeastern lakeshore. If you plan to use the sailing area or boat station, check in advance for current conditions of use or services.
Historic places in Yaroslavl Oblast
Those interested in culture will also find clearly distinct highlights in Yaroslavl Oblast. Twelve old towns are considered the region’s main attraction; each has its own character and atmosphere. In Pereslavl-Zalessky, the Transfiguration Cathedral dates from the 12th century; it is the city’s oldest church and the earliest surviving architectural monument of the Vladimir-Suzdal school. The Rybinsk Museum-Reserve is housed in the New Grain Exchange, a building on the high bank of the Volga constructed in 1912 to a design by Moscow architect A. V. Ivanov. In Yaroslavl, the Metropolitan’s Chambers were built in 1682 by Metropolitan Jonah Sysoyevich; since 1977, they have housed a department of Old Russian art, an exhibition, and exhibition halls. The Uglich Kremlin adds a surviving ensemble dating from the 15th to the 19th century to this selection: it includes the Princes’ Chambers, the Church of Tsarevich Dmitry, the former city council building with museum exhibitions, and the Transfiguration Cathedral with its bell tower. The latter is Uglich’s main active church.
This gives you a straightforward comparison when choosing a holiday destination: Korovino is defined by its setting at the mouth of the Juchot; the national park and the historic places mentioned are separate destinations within Yaroslavl Oblast.
