Neinnomyssk combines a riverside park with distinctive landmarks in the cityscape. In Sherstyanik City Park, walking paths run along the Zelentshuk River and around two large ponds; on Mir Boulevard, art installations and monuments shape the city’s main pedestrian thoroughfare. The local history and regional museum adds its collections to these sites. When choosing a holiday apartment, you can first consider whether park paths, the museum and city history, or a combination of these, should be the focus of your stay.

Paths and Memorial Sites in Sherstyanik City Park

Sherstyanik City Park lies on the banks of the Zelentshuk River and covers about 12 hectares. Its walking paths run along the riverbank and around two large park ponds. The riverbank and ponds offer different scenic focal points: you can make the riverbank or the park ponds the focus of your walk. The park has sports and children’s playgrounds. There is also an equestrian area where you can go horseback riding. If you plan to ride, check in advance whether the area will be open for use when you visit.

A memorial sculpture depicting a woman and a child was unveiled there in 1965. It commemorates workers and employees of the wool mill who fell during the Great Patriotic War. Thus, in the same park, paths by the water, playgrounds and sports facilities, and a specific memorial site stand alongside one another.

Mir Boulevard: Art and Memorial Sites

Mir Boulevard is the city’s main pedestrian thoroughfare. Floral displays, green sculptures and art installations enliven the boulevard. The Vechnaya Slava Obelisk stands there, preserving the names of heroes; an eternal flame commemorates their deeds. At the intersection of Gagarin Street and Mir Boulevard are the Vechnaya Slava Obelisk and the Kniga Pamyati monument. The two distinct memorial sites thus share a specific location in the city.

An 85-mm anti-aircraft gun also stands on Mir Boulevard. Designed by S. Moisenko, it was unveiled on May 8, 1981. The obelisk, eternal flame, monument and gun represent different forms of remembrance; floral displays and art installations, meanwhile, shape the pedestrian thoroughfare’s character.

Museum, Cathedral and Cossack History

The Neinnomyssk Museum of Local Lore and Regional History opened in May 1957 and preserves more than 12,000 objects across 11 research collections. The scale of the collection offers a different perspective on the city’s history than a single monument: the museum focuses on collections, while the sites on the boulevard bear specific names and memorial markers.

Construction and expansion work on the Pokrovsky Cathedral was completed in 1998. Several monuments in Neinnomyssk commemorate different stages of Cossack history; the Cossacks are regarded as the city’s founders and defenders. The museum’s opening and the completion of the cathedral work mark two different points in the city’s history. Together, collections, religious architecture and monuments offer different ways of exploring Neinnomyssk.

The wider Stavropol Krai region also offers distinct landscapes and historical themes. In Kislovodsk, the Ring Rock lies on a spur of the Borgustan Range. Weathering and erosion created an opening through the rock measuring 8 by 10 metres. In Pyatigorsk, Mount Mashuk lies almost in the city centre. At the western foot of the mountain, Mikhail Lermontov and Nikolai Martynov fought a duel in 1841. These regional examples complement Neinnomyssk’s park and city history with geological and literary perspectives.
