The history of Sabantuy and the Alexander Temple give Volno-Nadezhdinskoye different cultural points of interest. A look at the village’s history leads to a festival whose beginnings and return were separated by decades.

Sabantuy: Began in 1992, returned in 2023

The history of Primorsky Sabantuy began in 1992 in the village of Vol’no-Nadezhdinskoye; the festival was first held at Yubileiny Stadium. From 1992 until its return in 2023, Sabantuy was not held again in Vol’no-Nadezhdinskoye. The span from its launch to its return covers more than three decades, making the long interruption a notable part of the festival’s history.

On June 24, 2023, Tatars and Bashkirs from Primorye gathered in the central square of Vol’no-Nadezhdinskoye for the “Sabantuy-2023” festival. The festival featured songs, dances, sports games, and traditional cuisine. Together, these elements describe a festival day where cultural and sporting activities went hand in hand with food.

Another cultural point of interest in the village

Nature and cuisine of the Primorye Region

The Primorye Region’s cuisine brings together the culinary traditions of different peoples. Far Eastern cuisine includes seafood such as oysters, mussels, crabs, and scallops, which you can try in the region. Bibimbap, pyan-se, and kimchi are examples of East Asian influences. Other regional dishes include salmon soup, pelmeni with scallops, fish pie, seaweed soup, Pacific herring smoked at home, and skoblyanka made with sea cucumber and trumpet shell, served with vegetables. Pelmeni with shrimp and duck, fried rice with pork and vegetables, sweet-and-sour sauces, and meat marinated in pear are also among the region’s culinary offerings.

The Zemlya leoparda National Park lies in the southwest of the Primorye Region. Amur tigers, lynxes, Far Eastern wildcats, and Far Eastern leopards live there. The Tropoy leoparda ecotrail features information boards, signs, interactive play elements, bridges, and viewpoints. The Logovo leoparda route leads to a mountain whose caves sometimes provide shelter for leopards. These offer two different ways to experience nature: a trail with informative and playful stops, and a route focused on a mountain and its caves.
