When looking for a vacation rental in Oleni, it helps to consider the variety of experiences in the surrounding area and farther afield: park history and city views in Lysva, rafting in the Lysva area, and nature and cultural destinations in Perm Krai offer different highlights. This lets you plan your trip around the themes that interest you most.

Park history and city views in Lysva

Near Oleni, you’ll find Pushkin Park in Lysva. It was founded in 1902 by Alexander Zanuzzi, chief forester of the Lysva Mining District and a forestry scientist. The park is considered the city’s green gem. Its history and name lend a cultural dimension to a visit; Lysva can also be viewed from another perspective.

Locals call Lysva’s highest point Kalanchа. From there, you can look out over the city. The park and viewpoint represent different sides of Lysva: the green surroundings on one hand, and views across the city on the other. If you’re looking for a connection to the city’s history as well as nature when planning your trip, this combination offers two different points of interest.

Rafting in the Lysva area

In the Lysva area, the village of Kyn is a popular starting point for rafting trips: many tourists begin their journeys there on the Chusovaya River. This is a different focus from park history or city views. When choosing your itinerary, you can distinguish between cultural and nature themes in Lysva and a river activity in Kyn.

Trails and nature in the wider destination of Perm Krai

The Basegi Nature Reserve has two hiking routes in Perm Krai: one to the summit of North Basegi and one to South Basegi. The route to the summit of North Basegi starts at the checkpoint near the “Schastlivy” ranger station. The trail is 3,700 meters long on foot, passing through taiga forest, or mountain forest, followed by about 300 meters across mountain meadows.

The round-trip route is 11 kilometers long; the excursion takes 5 to 8 hours, including the guided tour and rest breaks. The hiking season runs from June to October. This specified time frame can be useful for families planning their day. Before your trip, check the current arrangements with the nature reserve, especially regarding the season and the time required.

The visitor center at the Basegi Nature Reserve also offers insights into the region. It includes a small museum exhibition about the flora and fauna of Perm Krai. Environmental education discussions, lectures, quizzes, and games featuring films and multimedia presentations are held there regularly. Topics range from animals and plants to protected areas and the Basegi Nature Reserve.

Wooden architecture and other regional destinations

The Khokhlovka Open-Air Museum is the Urals’ first architectural and ethnographic open-air museum of wooden architecture. It opened to visitors in September 1980. Exhibits include wooden churches and a bell tower that are more than 300 years old, as well as a unique architectural complex of saltworks. The museum also includes a tent-shaped windmill and homesteads of the Komi-Permyaks and Russians dating from the late 19th to the early 20th century. Khokhlovka therefore offers a different cultural focus from the park history in Lysva: the emphasis is on historic wooden buildings and their architectural forms.

Another regional destination is the year-round Gubakha resort in the city of Gubakha, on Mount Krestovaya in Perm Krai. It has seven groomed pistes and eleven slopes for freeriders. These numbers may change; check the resort’s current information when planning your trip.

Kyn is known for rafting trips on the Chusovaya River; the Basegi route is a hiking excursion with a specified season, distance, and duration. These different types of trips can help you choose a vacation rental based on the themes you want your trip to focus on.
