Selyatino: Experience parks and culture
Accommodation in Selyatino
Selyatino offers a variety of reasons to visit: walking paths and leisure activities in Mechta Park, as well as performances and cultural programmes at the Mechta House of Culture. If you’re travelling with family, this variety can help you plan your days: sometimes outdoor activities take centre stage, and at other times it’s a shared cultural experience. This lets you tailor your stay to the interests of your travel group.
Paths, quiet areas and leisure activities in Mechta Park
Mechta Park covers 15 hectares and has a network of walking paths, as well as cycling and ski trails. There are also sports grounds and more than 20 quiet areas. The park’s different facilities give it several facets: you can make outdoor activity and a break in the greenery different focal points of your visit.
The smaller details also shape the park. Many squirrels live here and are happy to interact with people out for a walk. The Taksa bench is an art installation in the park. In summer, the Lyubimye ritmy retro dances take place there every week. If you’d like to use a barbecue area, you can reserve one; check availability with the operator.
Cultural events throughout the year
You can attend circus and theatre performances at the Mechta House of Culture. Every year in August, before the start of the cultural season, the venue also holds its Otkroy dver v Mechtu open day. Its recurring date and connection with the start of the cultural season make it a useful point of reference when planning. Check the specific dates if you’d like to plan your trip around an event.
The venue’s programme includes a range of activities. Since 2019, it has run the governor’s Akt ivnoye dolgoletiye programme. Activities include historical social dancing, Nordic walking, the Slavyanka choir, and workshops in fine and applied arts. It’s worth enquiring about current dates and participation requirements. The Vechyorka folk music ensemble has held the title of Narodny kollektiv since 1995.
The town’s history also offers a cultural point of interest: services began in 2014 at the new Seraphim church building in Selyatino. The House of Culture’s ensembles give more than 200 concerts each year at various venues in Naro-Fominsk Urban District, Moscow Oblast, Moscow and Selyatino. Their performances are therefore spread across several locations in the region.
Plan a stay that suits you
To plan your trip, you can first consider what you’d like it to revolve around: time on the park’s paths and in its quiet areas, a seasonal dance event, or a performance or cultural programme. When choosing a holiday apartment, consider how its location fits with your plans. If a particular event is the deciding factor, plan your travel dates around it; if you intend to use a barbecue area, arrange a reservation with the operator.
