Nemchinovka can be explored through two cultural threads: the history of the Church of the Nativity of Christ and a local arts program featuring a festival of children’s and youth art, as well as tours of Malevich memorial sites. These themes offer a concrete reason to view the place through its religious and cultural history. For your travel planning, detailed directions to the church are also helpful.

The History of the Church of the Nativity of Christ

The Church of the Nativity of Christ opened in 1914 during the First World War. Its original building was created by converting a wooden house donated for use as a church by the settlement’s founder, Mikhail Ardalionovich Nemchinov. The building’s history is therefore also connected to a person who played an important role in the history of the settlement.

The original church building was later destroyed. In 2002, the parish was reestablished and services resumed. Today, the Church of the Nativity of Christ is located in a room in the Nemchinovskiy poselkovy klub, on the site of the original church building that was destroyed. This makes it possible to understand the opening, the reestablishment of the parish, and the present-day location as distinct milestones in the church’s history.

Getting to the Church

Take a suburban train on the Belarus direction to Nemchinovka station. Another option is city bus No. 139 from Filyovskiy park or Slavyanskiy bulvar metro stations to the Novoivanovskoye stop at the underpass across Mozhayskoye shosse. From there, a walking route leads to Nemchinovka station without crossing the road. After crossing the railway line, it is 50 m to 2-y Prosek and another 100 m along the avenue to the church. These directions will help you find your way; please check current train services separately.

The two travel options start at different points: the suburban train goes to the station, while the bus journey starts at one of the named metro stations and continues via Novoivanovskoye to the station. You can therefore plan your journey according to which connection suits your starting point. For the final stretches, the directions provide specific landmarks and distances.

Art and Local Culture

On February 23, 2024, the awards ceremony for the tenth open festival “Nemchinovka i Malevich” was held in the hall of the Nemchinovskiy kulturno-dosugovyy tsentr. The festival is dedicated to children’s and youth drawing and decorative-applied arts. The awards ceremony offers a concrete glimpse into local cultural life on a particular date.

Alongside young artists from the Odintsovskiy gorodskoy okrug, the 2024 edition also included young artists from Moscow, Krasnogorsk, and Lyubertsy. Participation from several places gives the festival a perspective extending beyond Nemchinovka. At the same time, it pertains specifically to that edition: the date refers to the awards ceremony held then.

The Nemchinovskiy kulturno-dosugovyy tsentr also organizes tours in Nemchinovka to Malevich memorial sites. Thus, a dated art festival and tours to memorial sites offer distinct cultural points of interest. If you would like to plan such a tour, check with the center about current availability.

Choose the Right Focus for Your Stay

When looking for a vacation rental in Nemchinovka, you can first consider which themes you would like to shape your stay. Those interested in architectural and parish history can find a historical sequence and directions in the Church of the Nativity of Christ. Those who prefer art and commemorative culture can consider the 2024 festival edition and the Malevich tours as starting points for further planning. This way, you can choose your accommodation according to your own travel interests rather than searching generically through a list of attractions.
