Bagovskaya combines archaeological heritage with a route whose stops range from a river valley to a waterfall. The most prominent feature is the Bagovskaya dolmens in Mostovsky District, Krasnodar Krai: they attract particular attention from archaeologists and tourists. The megalithic complex “Zerkala” (“Khram Solntsa”) is also nearby. These travel interests can help guide your choice of a holiday rental: do you want archaeological sites to shape your stay, or is the sequence of route stops your main focus? Both connect cultural interests with specific landscape features.

Dolmens and megalithic sites

The Bagovskaya dolmens are the area’s main archaeological attraction. The “Zapadny Kavkaz” tourist club offers visits to the dolmen group as part of its expeditions or as individual excursions. Visits to “Khram Solntsa” are also offered in these formats; arrange the details directly with the club before your trip. The “Zerkala” complex is in the vicinity of Bagovskaya. It includes a solar observatory complex dating to the Eneolithic, used to observe significant solar events. The dolmen group and the solar observatory are therefore two distinct points of interest for those interested in archaeology: one is in Bagovskaya, while the other complex is nearby.

A route with several stops

A linear route leads from Bagovskaya to Barakayevskaya. It passes through Kizinka, the valley of the Kizinchi River, Maslyaeva Glade and the dolmen area, then through Zubashchenko Passage Cave. A side trip leads to Mount Shakhan; the route then continues along the Shakhan Ridge and through Lipovaya Glade to Devichyi Kosy Waterfall. Mount Shakhan is included as a side trip, while the Shakhan Ridge is part of the onward route. Several route options are possible, so check local conditions before setting out. Choosing the route means following the full sequence of stops and one of the possible options, while a dolmen visit focuses on a single archaeological attraction.

Urivok Canyon: heed the warning

Urivok Canyon is in the Bagovskoye rural settlement and the Psebay Nature Reserve, near Bagovskaya. Visiting the canyon independently is extremely dangerous; it is strongly advised against without experienced instructors and mountain guides. Tourist trails do not lead to the canyon. Do not treat it as a side trip to explore on your own. This clear warning distinguishes the canyon from the route described above, for which local conditions should be checked before setting out.

Another landscape highlight in Krasnodar Krai

A broader perspective takes in Krasnodar Krai: visitors to Anapskaya Peresyp Nature Park can walk along the coast’s wide, golden beaches. Farther from the sea, the sand forms a series of high dunes. This coastal landscape offers a different focus from Bagovskaya’s dolmens and linear route. Those considering the region as a whole, rather than a single destination, can weigh these different landscapes and travel interests separately.
