Discover Murygino: School Museum, Church and Landscape
Accommodation in Murygino
Murygino offers very different points of interest: the School Museum brings together the history of the village and its school with everyday rural life; the Church of the Exaltation of the Cross is associated with a porcelain iconostasis consecrated in 2015. The park is on the banks of the Vyatka, was established in 1977 and covers 2.4 hectares. The poplar avenue, planted in 1904, and Mount Prislon provide further landscape landmarks. The area’s cultural history and landscape thus offer different perspectives for your stay.
The village’s history at the School Museum
The School Museum’s collection currently comprises more than 1,030 exhibits, including around 700 original documents and photographs relating to the history of the village and its school. The permanent exhibitions are devoted to the history of Murygino, the school and everyday rural life. There is also a Hall of Military Glory with the exhibition “Murygino — dorogami voiny.”
The collection and exhibitions offer different points of emphasis: original documents and photographs relate to the village and its school, while the permanent exhibitions also explore everyday life and military remembrance. In this way, the School Museum combines documentary local history with several permanent themes. Anyone interested in how a place has developed can include these different historical perspectives in their travel plans.
The Church of the Exaltation of the Cross and its porcelain iconostasis
The Church of the Exaltation of the Cross also offers a precise historical reference point. On 8 August 2015, Metropolitan Mark of Vyatka and Slobodsk consecrated a new porcelain iconostasis there. It was made in Yekaterinburg, and its installation took about a year. The exact consecration date and the approximate installation time describe two different stages in this history. Unlike the School Museum, whose collection and permanent exhibitions bring together several themes, the focus here is on a single object, its material and a dated consecration.
Park, poplar avenue and mountain
The park in Murygino was established on the banks of the Vyatka in 1977 and covers 2.4 hectares. The poplar avenue is on Bolshevikov Street, beside the shore of a former pond, and was planted in 1904. The riverbank and the former pond offer two distinct connections to water, while the years mark different points in history.
Mount Prislon covers around 20 hectares, making it considerably larger than the park in area. The landscape features can therefore also be distinguished by scale: a park of a stated size by the river, an avenue beside the former pond shore and a mountain with a much larger area. The years in which the poplar avenue was planted and the park established are given; for the mountain, the emphasis is on its area.
Plan your stay around your interests
If you are looking for a holiday apartment or holiday home in Murygino, first decide what you would like to focus on during your stay: local and school history, including the iconostasis, or the landscape around the Vyatka, the former pond and the mountain.
