Apacha draws attention to a remarkable natural feature in the surrounding area: the Apachinsky mineral thermal springs. They are not in the village itself, but to its southeast in a river valley. When planning your trip, it is therefore worth distinguishing between the village of Apacha and the location of the springs. If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Apacha, this distinction can help you decide which should be the focus of your stay.

Thermal Springs Near Apacha

The Apachinsky Springs lie in the valley of the Shikovaia River, 15 km southeast of the village of Apacha. On the left bank, the hot springs form four depressions at their outlets. Each is 2–4 m wide and 1–2 m deep. Two or three streams of hot water emerge from the bottom of each depression, with temperatures ranging from 56 to 72 °C. The natural feature can thus be described through several specific characteristics: its location in the valley, its four outlets, and the high temperature of the water.

The thermal sites are also notable for their plant life. They provide a habitat for the rare plant Oreorchis patens as well as other protected vascular plants found at thermal sites in Kamchatka. The high water and air temperatures have given rise to a distinctive natural complex around the springs. For visitors, this is an opportunity to experience an exceptional landscape and gain insight into a specialized habitat.

The springs also have a long history: they were first mentioned in 1879. The reference was made by the exiled physician Benedikt Ivanovich Dybowski. The thermal area is therefore part of the region’s natural history and has a specific historical connection as well.

The Thermal Landscape of the Kamchatka Region

For a broader perspective on the Kamchatka Region, Nalychevo Nature Park offers a glimpse of the diversity of its thermal springs. There are about 200 springs there, forming groups with different hydrochemical, thermal, and balneological properties. The park’s central area has hot and cold mineral springs with carbon dioxide-, arsenic-, and boron-containing waters enriched with mineral trace elements. These details refer to Nalychevo Nature Park in the Kamchatka Region, not to Apacha.

The Nalychevo Valley is surrounded by the volcanoes Zhupanovsky, Avachinsky, Kozelsky, Koryaksky, and Dzenzur. Together with South Kamchatka, Bystrinsky, and Klyuchevskoy Nature Parks and two federal protected areas, the nature park is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Volcanoes of Kamchatka.” The park also provides seasonal guidance for trip planning: seven tourist routes pass through Nalychevo and are accessible at different times of year; check their current availability locally before your trip. Check the latest route information before making specific plans.

Choose Your Holiday Apartment Location Carefully

This makes it clear whether you mainly want to explore the village or the thermal springs in the surrounding area, without treating the two locations as one and the same.
