The settlement of Zyuratkul lies on the northeastern shore of the reservoir of the same name. Several starting points are useful when planning outings: trails to two peak destinations begin at the entrance to the settlement, and another trail starts at the dam. This means that when planning your holiday, you can focus not only on the lake but also on the ridge or peak you want to experience. If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Zyuratkul, you can first compare your plans with these specific routes.

Routes from the Entrance to the Settlement

The “Malaya Medvezhya” eco-trail begins at the entrance to Zyuratkul and leads to the 1,175 m-high peak of the Zyuratkul Ridge. The trail is 6 km long one way—so 6 km is not the round-trip distance. A 7.5 km route leads to Golaya Sopka; this ascent also begins at the entrance to Zyuratkul. The two options therefore lead to different destinations: one to the peak of the Zyuratkul Ridge, the other to Golaya Sopka. If you plan your day around the distance, keep in mind that “one way” applies to the first route; the second is listed as a 7.5 km route.

Views and Alternative Starting Points

An established trail to the Maly Moskal Ridge begins at the dam on Lake Zyuratkul. The route from the settlement of Zyuratkul to the Maly Moskal Ridge is 3.5 km long. From the summit, you can see Lake Zyuratkul and the Lukash and Bolshoy Nurgush ridges. These named viewpoints distinguish the hike from the routes to the Zyuratkul Ridge and Golaya Sopka. The trail to Maly Moskal is also accessible to families with children.

The Great Ural Trail can also start in Zyuratkul; Tyulyuk is another possible starting point. Zyuratkul is therefore one option for starting the trail, not the only starting point mentioned. Check current trail conditions before setting out.

Getting There and Access Routes

Via the “Magnitsky” checkpoint and information point, you can reach Lake Zyuratkul, the settlement, and the trailheads for the “Malaya Medvezhya” and “Secrets of the Lake” eco-trails, as well as the “Zyuratkul Pillars” route. Check current access regulations before travelling.

Daily buses run from Ufa, Yekaterinburg, and Chelyabinsk to Satka. From Satka, take a taxi either to the settlement of Zyuratkul or to the “U trekh vershin” cordon. Plan the bus and taxi as two separate legs, and confirm connections and timetables before departure.

Choosing Accommodation After Your Outings

When looking for a holiday apartment in Zyuratkul, consider the starting points that matter for your outings. The trails to the Zyuratkul Ridge and Golaya Sopka begin at the entrance to the settlement; the trail to Maly Moskal starts at the dam. This way, you can focus your search on the hikes that matter during your stay.
