Kyshtym city: holiday apartment and nature destinations

When choosing a holiday apartment in the Kyshtym urban district, it is important to decide whether you want to use the town itself or nature destinations elsewhere in the district as your base. The verified facts mainly concern Mount Sugomak, its cave, the forest lake and other excursions. They do not establish that a holiday apartment is available directly at any of these places. So compare the exact accommodation address with the routes you plan to take.

Sugomak as a nature destination

Lake Sugomak lies at the foot of the mountain of the same name and is a hydrological natural monument of regional significance. Near Sugomak Cave there is a large clearing and the «Марьины слёзы» spring. An ecological nature trail about 900 metres long starts at the turnoff from the Kyshtym–Slyudorudnik road, follows a forest path and ends at the cave entrance. This is a specific route to the entrance, not a statement that the cave itself is open for visits or safe to enter. Check current access, opening status and trail conditions.

Another described hike starts at the grounds of the «Странник» facility and heads towards Slyudorudnik and the Sugomak clearing. It visits the «Глининка», «Известка» and «Марьины слёзы» springs. To the north of Sugomak rises Mount Егоза, which is 607 metres high. Both mountains are clearly visible from Kyshtym and are described as similarly shaped peaks on the same ridge. There is a ski complex on Mount Егоза. Its mere mention does not establish that lifts are currently operating or that piste conditions are suitable; confirm this information separately for a winter stay.

Other destinations in the urban district

The rock formation «Каменные ворота», also known as «чёртовы ворота» or «скала дракон», has an oval opening. It lies between Slyudorudnik and Bolshiye Egusty, about 20 kilometres from Kyshtym, in the western part of the ridge on Mount Тёплая. This is a destination in the urban district, but not in the centre of Kyshtym. Plan your transport and route separately. According to the available information, the folk arts festival «Русский хоровод» is held every year on 12 June in the clearing near Sugomak Cave. Another annual festival, «Завалинка», is described as taking place in late September, but no exact location within the district is given. Confirm the current programme for both events.

When choosing accommodation, distinguish between the lake, cave, mountains and town location. A short nature visit using the described trail requires different planning from a trip to the rocks about 20 kilometres away. A festival in the Sugomak clearing also calls for different date planning than a hike on a date of your choice. The wider Chelyabinsk Oblast includes additional national parks that should not automatically be considered nearby excursions from Kyshtym.
