Culture and History

The surrounding wall around the Biserica de la Nemşa church dates from the early 16th century. The wall complex includes a tower from 1869. The church, wall and tower thus point to different periods within the same ensemble. The altar from Nemșa combines elements of the Early Renaissance with influences from the Danube School. It dates from 1520 and was altered in 1850.

The altar therefore reveals both the period in which it was created and a later alteration. Its design combines elements of the Early Renaissance with influences from the Danube School, while the 1850 alteration adds another historical layer. Ştefan Ludwig Roth served as a pastor in Nemșa. Historically, winegrowing and wine production shaped the livelihood of Nemșa. The Casa învățătoarei farmstead at Nemșa No. 69 features Saxon architecture. A traditional Saxon house is located at Nemșa No. 115. The Nemșa No. 51 ecomuseum site includes an information and materials distribution point. The site also has a resting area in the garden. The garden offers a view of the village. Trails

The T5 trail section from Alma Vii to Nemșa is 5 km long. One variant of the Via Transilvanica runs from Richiş through Nemșa and Moșna, visiting both places along the way. The Via Transilvanica variant describes a different route: it begins in Richiş, passes through Nemșa and Moșna, and includes both places in its course.
