Culture and History
Casa Tolnay in Găleşti is listed as a historic monument dating from the 17th century. In Sânvăsii, the Unitarian church is listed among the historic buildings as a historic monument dating from the 14th to 15th century. A coin attributed to Béla III was discovered in a grave above the church wall; this dates the construction to the late 12th or early 13th century.
South of the former village of Sânvăsii, Cetatea de la Găleşti – Singervára, a fortification from the Roman and medieval periods, stands on a hill. The wooden church in Troița has a detached bell tower with an open ground floor, a narrow gallery with arches, and a steeply pitched roof.
Routes and Sacred Sites
The pilgrimage-like Via Unitariana hiking camp runs along the Niraj to the lower foothills of the Gurghiu Mountains and passes, among other places, Nyomát and Nyárádszentlászló. Another cultural and historical link is formed by the EKE hiking route: it leads from Nyárádremete via Mikháza, Jobbágytelke, Nyárádszereda, and Nyárádszentlászló to Berekeresztúr.
Public transport route 020 connects Târgu Mureș via Acățari with Troița and is 26 km long.
Nyárádszentlászló
Nyárádszentlászló is a heritage-oriented settlement in the central Niraj region and is administratively part of the commune of Găleşti. The place is already documented in the papal tithe register of 1332 under the name Sancto Ladislao.
The Unitarian church of Nyárádszentlászló features both Romanesque and Gothic architectural elements. In its Gothic sacristy, exceptionally valuable wall paintings were uncovered between 2009 and 2015 in the Transylvanian context.
The Nyomát stream crosses Nyárádszentlászló from north to south. In the churchyard stands the trunk of a manna ash tree estimated to be 350 to 400 years old. Two lime trees in the churchyard were planted in 1896 on the occasion of the millennium celebration of the Hungarian conquest of 896.
