Archaeological Traces in the Locality
The prehistoric settlement Aşezarea preistorică de la Ciulpăz is associated with the locality of Ciulpăz. Peștera Bulgărelu is an archaeological rock-shelter settlement on a wooded slope on the left side of the Zlaşti Valley, east of Ciulpăz. Its low entrance leads into a chamber paved with stones that have fallen from the vault, where ceramic and osteological remains were identified. The combination of rock shelter, slope, and valley gives the site a clear connection to the landscape. At Peștera Bulgărelu, the wooded slope is directly part of the site, not merely part of the regional setting.
At the Gruniul Măgurii site, Roman traces in the form of a villa rustica were identified within the locality. Two Roman inscriptions were also discovered in a garden in Ciulpăz. Traces of Roman structures, including furnaces, were additionally identified in the locality of Ciulpăz. The Roman traces are located at several specific places within the locality: at Gruniul Măgurii, in a garden, and at the remains of structures.
