Culture

The Folk Museum in Lunca de Sus houses a traditional Csángó house that reflects the way of life in the Ghimeș Valley. The museum’s collection was built through donations and consists mainly of objects from the Ghimeș Valley. The exhibited objects include the tools needed for weaving and spinning. Visitors interested in these activities can try them out, from weaving to spinning.

The museum thus combines the traditional Csángó house with a collection whose objects predominantly come from the same valley. The tools are not merely part of the exhibition; they are also connected with the activities that can be tried there. In this way, the house, everyday objects and handicraft activities appear together within the cultural context of the Ghimeș Valley.

The Biserica Livezi church is located in the surroundings of Comiat. Biserica Nădejdea is also situated nearby. The Catholic church Biserica Catolică Frumoasa is likewise located in the surroundings of Comiat. In the wider regional area lies the Mânăstirea Franciscană Miercurea Ciuc monastery. The Kármelhegyi Boldogasszony Church in Komját (Comiat) was consecrated on 16 July 2007.

The ecclesiastical surroundings of Comiat therefore include several churches nearby as well as a monastery in the wider regional area. The Kármelhegyi Boldogasszony Church belongs directly to the village of Komját, the Hungarian name for Comiat, and its consecration date places it clearly in time.

Landscape

The Gyimes Valley is the upper valley section of the Trotuș. At the same time, it forms the source area of this river. In the Gyimes region, the Csángó move with their livestock to summer shelters known as kalibák in spring. In autumn, around Saint Michael’s Day, they return to their village shelters.

The landscape is therefore connected with the course of the Trotuș and its source area. The seasonal rhythm also includes the change between the village shelters and the kalibák. The departure takes place in spring with the livestock, while the return occurs in autumn, approximately around Saint Michael’s Day. This timing is intentionally approximate and does not refer to one specific fixed calendar date.

The Vârful Fagului peak is located in the immediate surroundings of Comiat. The Muntele Păgânilor mountain is also situated nearby. The Vârful Mare peak lies in the immediate surroundings of Comiat. The Dealul Ursuleţului peak is located in the surroundings of Comiat.

The landscape features mentioned therefore include three destinations in the immediate vicinity of Comiat: Vârful Fagului, Muntele Păgânilor and Vârful Mare. Dealul Ursuleţului is classified as being connected with the wider surroundings of Comiat. The different designations as peak, mountain and hill are retained.

Winter

SkiGyimes has an 800-metre-long blue ski slope. The SkiGyimes toboggan run is 1,900 metres long in total. It includes a 1,300-metre-long descent section. It also has a 600-metre-long section with a lift.

Winter sports at SkiGyimes therefore include a ski slope and a separately described toboggan run. The toboggan run is further broken down by its total length, its 1,300-metre-long descent section and its 600-metre-long section with a lift. This keeps both the total length and its two stated sections identifiable.
