Culture and History

Traditional crafts have been preserved in the commune of Comuna Nicolae Bălcescu, and many people continue to practice them. Folk singing and folk dancing are practiced in the commune of Comuna Nicolae Bălcescu both at weddings and at organized performances serving to preserve local traditions.

The hilly section of the Pilgrimage Route of the Seven Chapels runs more than 90 percent along forest roads, local roads, and paths. The Înălțarea lui Isus la cer Chapel is located on Albeni Hill in the administrative area of Nicolae Bălcescu.

From Nicolae Bălcescu, this chapel can be reached on foot or by bicycle via Via-Bacovia routes. Another chapel, Sfinții Împărați Constantin și Elena, can be reached on foot from Buchila or Valea Seacă.
