Geographical location

Comuna Nicolae Bălcescu has both a steppe-forest zone and a forest zone with a mixture of oak and beech trees. The Valea Seacă stream generally flows towards the confluence of the Siret and Bistrița rivers.

Culture

The Preasfânta Inimă a lui Isus church in Nicolae Bălcescu was consecrated in 1978. Its tower is 52 metres high.

The Traseu Capele Sud route has a moderate difficulty level and starts at the foot of Albeni Hill near Valea Seacă. An alternative starting option from Bălțata adds approximately 3 kilometres in distance and around 210 metres of elevation gain.

From Valea Seacă, the Înălțarea lui Isus la Cer chapel can be reached via an unpaved road; from the foot of the hill, an approximately 500-metre footpath continues onwards.

History
