Local History with Several Names

The settlement now known as Brăileni was formerly called Aninoasa and Brăileni–Aninoasa. Aninoasa, the former name of Brăileni, is first documented in a document from 1624. The name Brăileni is attributed to two settlers who moved from Brăila. Around 1900, Brăileni had approximately 32 families. These chronological and linguistic traces give the place a historical context that you can consciously consider during your stay, without reducing Brăileni to its past.

Landscape and Orientation on Site

Brăileni extends below the foothills lining the Piteşti–Râmnicu Vâlcea road. The lane leading through Brăileni begins opposite the General School of Valea Ursului and runs westward. For travel from further afield, the paved DN7-E51 București–Piteşti–Râmnicu Vâlcea provides a connection from Bascov to the western villages, including Brăileni.

The picnic and leisure area in the Aninoasa area of Brăileni was completed in 2024. The Brăileni picnic area has grills and wooden pavilions. Its location in Bascov is near a forest and a spring. The picnic area was developed by Primăria Bascov as part of a participatory budgeting project. Tradition, Music and Regional Cuisine

“Focul lui Sumedru” is an annual tradition held on the feast day of Sfântul Dumitru, associated with a gathering at the entrance to Islaz Aninoasa in the village of Brăileni.
