Hiking and Nature
If you are looking for a hike with a cave as its destination in Sohodol, a marked TA hiking route leads from Fața via Sohodol to Peștera Huda de Lapte. Along this marked TA hiking route, sections pass through forest and clearings. This is followed by a short, steep descent to Peștera Huda de Lapte. Peștera Huda de Lapte is an interesting cave without stalactite formations.
The route therefore connects several clearly recognisable sections: the stretch from Fața via Sohodol, the forest and clearing areas, and the subsequent descent to the cave. Anyone planning this hike should consider the short, steep final section as a separate part of the route. The destination is not a stalactite cave, but rather a cave without stalactite formations.
The Gorunul lui Horea monument is located in the vicinity of Sohodol. The Dealul Faţa Albacului mountain is also in the vicinity of Sohodol. The Mânăstirea Albac-Rogoz monastery is located there as well. The Dealul Fericet mountain is in the vicinity of Sohodol, as is the Dealul Soba mountain. The Cerbu mountain is also nearby. The named churches in the vicinity include Biserica Albac and Biserica Sfinţii Arhangheli.
The surrounding area therefore includes mountains as well as a monument, a monastery and churches. The names can be directly assigned to the respective natural and cultural sites: Dealul Faţa Albacului, Dealul Fericet, Dealul Soba and Cerbu are named as mountains, while Gorunul lui Horea, Mânăstirea Albac-Rogoz, Biserica Albac and Biserica Sfinţii Arhangheli belong to the cultural sites.
Mountain Bike Routes
The Trail 80 PR loop is newly homologated, suitable for mountain biking and recommended for cycle tourism. A route from Albac to Horea leads via Fața, Sohodol and Roșești; its course also includes Fericet and Măncești.
For Trail 80 PR, the loop character is central alongside its new homologation and approval for mountain biking. By contrast, the route between Albac and Horea is characterised by its sequence of several places. Sohodol lies between Fața and Roșești along the route described; Fericet and Măncești are also part of this sequence of places.
Route 76 runs along an unpaved high-altitude road through Sohodol, Roșești, Costești and Preluca. Route 76 is suitable for mountain biking. Route 74 connects the Valea Arieșul Mare with the high-altitude trail via Sohodol, Costești and Preluca.
The two routes differ in their described courses: Route 76 runs as an unpaved high-altitude road through several named places, while Route 74 creates a connection between the Valea Arieșul Mare and the high-altitude trail. For Route 74, the described section also includes the elevation of 1,275 metres below Vârful Runc.
