The Ecovia do Mondego begins at the end of the Ecopista do Dão. It follows the Mondego valley through varied landscapes, is approximately 40 kilometres long and extends to the boundaries of the municipality of Penacova. Those looking for an idea for a longer tour will therefore find a different setting here from the section of the Ecopista. Views and traces of history

The Miradouro do Outeirinho offers panoramic views of the Dão River and the area of the União de Freguesias de Óvoa e Vimieiro. A viewpoint like this complements the immediate experience of the river with views across the wider landscape. In the town centre, the Santa Comba Dão tourist office is located on the ground floor of Casa dos Arcos. The building itself is a Mannerist work of civil architecture; its construction was commissioned in the mid-17th century by the Vasconcelos family.

The history of the surrounding towns also goes back a long way. The Manueline foral charters of Couto do Mosteiro, Óvoa, Pinheiro de Ázere, Santa Comba Dão and São João de Areias were granted between March and July 1514. Another important building is the Igreja da Misericórdia de Santa Comba Dão. Its construction began in 1737, and it was inaugurated in 1755. The Baroque church has a single-nave layout, a high choir, a presbytery, an attached sacristy and gilded carved-wood altarpieces.

Santa Comba Dão also has a railway connection via the Linha da Beira Alta.
