The Núcleo Museológico de Ortiga presents the history of Ortiga and the Tagus basin. It interprets the tangible and intangible heritage of the local community for study, education and leisure. The Estação Arqueológica Romana de Vale de Junco comprises a Roman thermal complex dating from the 3rd to the 4th century AD. This historical range is complemented by the Anta da Foz do Rio Frio, also known as Anta da Casa dos Mouros. It stands on a plateau above the Tagus and the mouth of the Rio Frio and offers wide-ranging views over the surrounding landscape.

The Pesqueiras de Ortiga are particularly closely connected with the river. They are considered rare examples of a unique form of landscape architecture that emerged from the centuries-old relationship with the river. Their skilful slate construction techniques make them a cultural subject in their own right. The Moinhos do Lercas, in turn, recall earlier forms of processing: in these mills, wheat, maize or rye grains were ground into flour using a horizontal water wheel.
