It also includes a memorial to the victims of the Inquisition, bearing the 515 names of prisoners from Trancoso. These features give the town’s history a tangible human and commemorative dimension.

Another cultural point of reference is the Casa do Bandarra, an interpretation centre dedicated to Gonçalo Anes, known as Bandarra. He was a prophet and shoemaker who was born in Trancoso at the beginning of the 16th century. The Casa do Bandarra offers multimedia installations, a video about Bandarra’s life and work, and documentation on anthropological memories preserved in folk wisdom.
