Excursions into the surrounding area are also possible there.

Active holiday days can also be arranged in different ways using the available facilities. “A Caminho da Ciradelha” is a moderately difficult short scenic hiking trail in the PR category. It follows agricultural tracks in the municipality of Vinhais, is 9 km long and runs at elevations between 650 m and 1,000 m. In the historic area of Vinhais, the Centro de Interpretação do Parque Natural de Montesinho is located in the Casa da Vila. The Casa da Vila is surrounded by preserved walls. The oval fortification of Vinhais was completed during the reign of King Denis of Portugal with six towers. Another historical connection is provided by the Via da Prata, a Transmontane variant of the Way of Saint James that passes through Vinhais.

The Centro Cultural Solar dos Condes de Vinhais is housed in the former Solar dos Condes de Vinhais, an 18th-century manor house. In the Sala Pintada – Jorge Lima Barreto, the centre has a permanent collection of paintings by António Palolo. The Museu de Arte Sacra is located in the Convento de São Francisco, which also dates from the 18th century. Its exhibition areas include religious painting, liturgical vestments, goldsmithery, sculptures, furniture, prints and a document archive.

The Igreja de São Facundo is classified as a Category IIP monument under Decree No. 95/78 in Diário da República No. 210 of 12 September 1978. The Parque Verde de Artes e Ofícios de Vinhais presents traditional working and living areas through the cycles of iron, wool, bread, wine and olive oil. These also include a cabanal, a kitchen, a threshing floor and the Jogo dos Paus.

Vinhais can also be discovered through its culinary side. Local specialities include soups, appetisers, Casulas, Milhos, Cuscos, Fumeiro de Vinhais, as well as homemade desserts and sweet treats. The Feira do Fumeiro de Vinhais takes place every year in February. It is recognised for products with a Protected Geographical Indication (IGP) and highlights the authenticity of Bísaro pork.
