Those looking for a much more extensive route can choose the Grande Rota do Bussaco, a 56-kilometre-long, linear, star-shaped trail with three different sections. The Mata Nacional do Bussaco forms its centre. When planning, it is therefore important to distinguish between the 3-kilometre Via Sacra and the considerably longer Grande Rota.
