The Museu Fábrica da História – Arroz is housed in the renovated building of the former Hidro-Eléctrica de Estarreja, a former rice-husking factory. Traditional festivals include the Festas de Santo António de Estarreja, held in honour of the municipality’s patron saint. During the Marchas Populares in honour of Santo António, hundreds of costumed performers parade through Estarreja with themes drawn from popular and traditional culture. Regional cuisine is also part of the annual calendar: every year, gastronomic festivals called “Tasquinhas de Gastronomia Regional” are held in all the municipalities of the Estarreja municipality. They serve, among other things, Rojões, eel dishes, dishes made with Broa and typical regional sweets.
