Alvarenga: Paiva River, Quartzite and Special Trails

Alvarenga lies on the right bank of the Paiva River and combines riverside landscapes, distinctive rock formations, historic sites and regional specialities. In addition to nature trails, Alvarenga therefore also offers points of interest for visitors interested in local history and historic buildings.

Carreira dos Moinhos comprises 17 watermills with waterwheels. The mills are built from slate and roofed with roofing slate. As a culinary addition, restaurants in Alvarenga serve beef from the Arouquesa cattle breed. The liqueur PINGUÇA originates from Alvarenga and is made using regional products.
