A large part of the original buildings on the Old Market Square was destroyed in 1945; the buildings standing there today are new post-war reconstructions. For visitors interested in urban history, this visible transformation makes the square particularly informative.

Culture and History
The Basteja houses a branch of the Stargard Museum; since 2014, the historical festival “W Krainie Gryfa” has been held there.
Every year, the parish, in cooperation with the Stargard Cultural Centre, organises the “Jarmark u Królowej Świata” on the Old Market Square.
The Archaeological and Historical Museum and the Stargard Tourist Information Centre are located on the Old Market Square in two reconstructed burgher houses with a neo-Baroque appearance.

Experiences
Stargard hosted an orienteering rally organised by the local railway division of PTTK, in which participants followed a route and searched for control points. The orienteering rally is particularly interesting for travellers who value navigation and finding control points as a shared experience.
