Town history and architecture
The town hall was built in 1697 in the Baroque style using half-timbered construction. It has retained both its complete structural form and the architectural layout of its façades. The building’s history is therefore not defined solely by its year of construction: its preserved form and façade design are also part of its defining character. Those interested in historic architecture will find a concrete example of Baroque construction here in Nowe Warpno.
The Church of the Assumption of Mary offers another glimpse of different historical dates. Its tower and roof were rebuilt in 1693 after a fire in 1692. The church also houses a Baroque altar dating from 1704. Art exhibitions, organ concerts and choir performances are also held in the church.
At the entrance to Nowe Warpno, a palace in the French Neo-Renaissance style stands on the shore of Lake Nowe Warpno. A historic park surrounds the building. From the palace, views stretch across the lake to the Nowe Warpno Peninsula and Riether Werder Island. Those interested in landscape and architecture as well as the town’s history will find another perspective on Nowe Warpno here.
The Church of St. Hubertus in Karszno is also shaped by its history. It was probably built in the second half of the 18th century; the year 1793 is inscribed on the weather vane of its small tower. Weddings and painting exhibitions are occasionally held in the church.
Promenade, cycle path and other routes
There is a clearly defined option for a walk: a half-kilometre-long promenade runs along the southern shore of the Nowe Warpno Peninsula. For cycling, a 3.41-kilometre path follows an old railway embankment from ul. Polna in Nowe Warpno to provincial road 114, ul. Szczecińska. The two routes differ in activity and stated length, so you can consider walking and cycling as separate travel interests.
Another route passes through Nowe Warpno and connects the town with additional stops in the Puszcza Wkrzańska area. A seasonal ferry service is also relevant when planning your journey or excursions: it connects Nowe Warpno with the German town of Altwarp. This service offers a distinct connection across the border; it operates seasonally.
Local traditions
One example of efforts to preserve local fishing traditions and the cultural heritage of the local community was the 23rd Święto Leszcza. It took place on 22 August 2026 in Nowe Warpno and was part of a related funding project. At the festival, exhibitors could present local products, handicrafts and regional produce.
