Ruda Maleniecka: Nature Trails and King Carp

Trees in the Historic Manor Park

The dendrological nature trail runs through the historic manor park in Ruda Maleniecka. It was created by the Ruda Maleniecka Forest District together with a local 4H Club. Along the trail, you can learn about native tree species as well as non-native trees; the Weymouth pine is an example of the latter group. This means the focus is not only on the manor park as a historic setting, but also on trees as a subject in their own right. If you enjoy looking more closely, the contrast between native and non-native species offers a specific focus for your walk. The history of the park and the study of trees give the trail two distinct facets.

Fish Farming and King Carp

Another nature trail runs around the breeding ponds at a fish farm. It is located at Izba Tradycji im. Profesora Franciszka Staffa (Ruda Maleniecka 112). Fish farming is also part of the story of the Fisheries Experimental Station in Ruda Maleniecka: research conducted there led to the breeding of a king carp variety with few scales. The king carp monument in Ruda Maleniecka was erected in 2012 to mark the centenary of the opening of the Fisheries Experimental Station. The detail of the few scales brings the breeding story to life. The monument, research and trail by the breeding ponds offer different ways to explore this local subject.

Hiking Trails and Routes in the Municipality

A red hiking trail to the Diabla Góra Nature Reserve passes through Ruda Maleniecka. At the municipal level, there are also three marked Nordic walking routes of varying lengths and difficulty, brought together in the Nordic Walking Park LGD - U Źródeł. Within the municipality, the red and black Nordic walking routes share part of their course with the Piekielny Szlak. A route suitable for cycling passes through Machory, Maleniec, Koliszowy, Dęba and Strzęboszów. When planning, you can distinguish between the hiking trail through the town and the options for Nordic walking and cycling described at the municipal level. The hiking trail leads to a protected area; the cycling route passes through five named places.
