Floor plan, roof, and bell tower

The church is built using log construction and is oriented east. Its rectangular floor plan has shallow transept arms and two chapels; the presbytery is as wide as the nave. Both sections are covered by a shared roof with a continuous ridge. A weather vane shaped like a rooster, bearing the year 1648, sits on the ridge. Beside the church stands a brick, openwork bell tower with three bells.

Building history and furnishings

The parish church was built in the 15th century and received a brick sacristy in 1699. During a discovery in 2002, 15th-century paintings on the ceiling beams and Renaissance paintings on the upper beams of the wall crowns of the transept extensions were uncovered. The artworks had survived alterations—a revealing part of the building’s history that connects with the different periods represented in the furnishings.

Most of the furnishings date from the 17th and 18th centuries. The Mannerist high altar was brought to Humniska from the demolished Capuchin church on Michałek Hill in Blizne. There are also four late Baroque side altars and a Baroque pulpit. A Gothic stone baptismal font and a 16th-century stone holy water stoup add older elements. Together, these pieces show how different periods are represented in the church’s interior.
