Nature and Trails

Palowice lies in the basin of the Ruda and smaller watercourses. The forests to the south, east and west are part of the Cistercian Landscape Compositions of Rudy Wielkie Landscape Park. The southern area is known as the Palowice Lakeland; large ponds lie there in the valley of the Jesionka stream.

A red cycle route numbered 305 connects Palowice with Żory.

The Palowice Lakeland is connected with the village and includes the Garbocz, Łanuch and Jesionka ponds on the eastern edge of a large forest complex.

Wetland plants, water lilies and a range of bird species can be found at the ponds; distinctive oaks line the old road between Palowice and Żory.

A hiking loop called Palowice–Dworek – Lake Gichta is listed with Palowice as its starting point.

History

Palowice has been documented since 1308 and has a long history of changing land ownership. The owners also included the Winckler family.
