The Castle and Churches as Testaments to the Town’s History
The castle and fortified settlement of Koziegłowy form a medieval monument of historical, archaeological and landscape value. Archaeological investigations uncovered the remains of a gate tower and a residential tower in 2022. For travellers interested in culture, they are a distinctive part of the town’s history.
The religious buildings also tell the story of different eras. The Church of the Holy Body and St Mary Magdalene was built in the 15th century; its surviving presbytery forms part of the present-day church. It includes an Ogrójec (Garden of Olives) with wooden sculptures of the Virgin Mary and St John the Baptist. St Barbara’s Church houses a Renaissance altar and a historic painting of St Barbara. Separate from this is the hospital chapel, built in 1670 in the northern suburb and also dedicated to St Barbara.
Aspen Wood Craftsmanship and Workshops
Koziegłowy is also associated with the processing of aspen wood shavings. In the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, the local craft centre was known throughout Poland for jewellery and household items made from this material. Exploring this craft history adds a local working-life perspective to a visit to the historic buildings.

Cycling, Hiking and Water
There are two routes of different lengths and types of activity to choose from for active days. The Przewodziszowice–Koziegłowy cycling route is 23 kilometres long and ends at Koziegłowy’s market square. The yellow-marked Szlak Żarecki is a 21-kilometre hiking trail that passes through the town.
Koziegłowy Reservoir lies within the town’s recreational areas. Alongside the trails, it offers a body of water to explore as part of the local landscape.
