Green paths and special habitats

Promenada Park is laid out as a walking and educational trail and stretches along the Czarna Przemsza. Wet meadows and ponds provide habitats for waterfowl and other wetland birds. The park also includes an apiary, natural monuments and memorial sites. If you enjoy getting around on foot during your holiday, you’ll find nature and interesting information combined in one destination; the riverside landscape also offers a distinct counterpoint to the city’s collections and historic sites.

Zamkowy Park offers a different park atmosphere: it is a historic landscape park, and its old trees have been recognised as natural monuments. The park is also home to an underground air-raid shelter dating from the Second World War. Here, towering trees stand alongside a structure with a direct connection to history. The two parks therefore have distinct characters: Promenada combines a walking and educational trail with wetland habitats, while Zamkowy brings together a historic landscape park and the shelter.

Cycling, walking and time by the water

The green cycle route passes through Mysłowice city centre, along Promenada and through Brzęczkowice and Kosztowy. If you’re interested in a longer hike, you can consider the red hiking trail named after Marian Kantor-Mirski, which passes by the Słupna swimming area on its way to Mysłowice. The red cycle route No. 110 is also located about 1.5 kilometres from Mysłowice railway station. These routes offer different starting points for active holiday days; the distance from the station refers to cycle route No. 110.

Słupna is an extensive waterside recreation area with a swimming area. It also has a summer sports centre and a complex of beach volleyball courts. This makes Słupna a distinct option for days focused on water and activity. Between the routes through the city and the facilities at the recreation area, you can choose different ways to spend your stay.

Collections and traces of history

The Muzeum Miasta Mysłowice has collections covering archaeology, ethnography, 20th-century history, industry and sport. The subjects range from past ways of life to topics connected with the city’s more recent history and social life. The museum also features a reconstruction of the former border at Trójkąt Trzech Cesarzy.

Trójkąt Trzech Cesarzy lies at the confluence of the Czarna Przemsza and Biała Przemsza, where historical state borders met. A memorial obelisk commemorates the former division and the reunification of Europe; it was unveiled in 2007. Rivers, border history and remembrance culture come together at this site, while the border reconstruction in the city museum offers another way to explore the subject.

The history of emigration is also connected with Mysłowice railway station. The Przewiązka once connected the buildings of the former emigration station with platform 1 at the railway station. Its historical function should not be confused with present-day use: it belonged to the former complex.

Another museum is dedicated to objects from Africa, Oceania and South America. The Cardinal August Hlond Mission Museum preserves traditional clothing, ritual masks, musical instruments and everyday objects. It is located in the basement rooms of the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows in Brzęczkowice. For visits to the Centralne Muzeum Pożarnictwa with a guided tour, the museum asks individual visitors and organised groups to submit their booking at least three days before the visit.
