Chudów Castle is a partially reconstructed Renaissance residence built on the foundations of an earlier fortification. You can also explore its history at the site in the “Zamek w Chudowie” Museum, located in a partially reconstructed tower of the castle built by Jan Gierałtowski in the 16th century. The archaeological exhibition includes reconstructed ceramic vessels and fragments of a medieval well. This brings a range of different artefacts into focus—vessels and parts of a well, each offering its own glimpse into the past.

For the 2026 season, the museum has set visiting hours: it is open on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 10:00 to 18:00. If visiting the museum is part of your travel plans, you can take these hours into account when planning your visit. The castle ruins are being restored and rebuilt; the site today therefore includes both the partially reconstructed residence and ruins undergoing restoration and reconstruction.

Cultural Ensemble and Regional History

The castle ensemble includes a nearby 18th-century granary, which is listed in the register of historic monuments. Together with the castle and the surrounding park of approximately 7 hectares, it is one of the surviving remnants of the former Chudów-Paniówki knightly estates. The landscape is also part of the ensemble’s character: the castle, surrounding meadows, wooded areas and associated farm buildings form a distinct cultural and landscape unit. If you are interested in historic buildings, you can therefore look beyond the castle to include the granary and other surrounding elements of the ensemble in your visit.

Another aspect of local history is represented by Izba łod Starki, a regional heritage room in the over 100-year-old building of the Old School in Chudów. Together with the museum, it offers a regional perspective on Chudów. The open-air cultural events “Spotkania na Zamku w Chudowie” have been organised on the castle grounds since 1996. The listed programme items include reenactments, historical performances, concerts and other activities. Thus, alongside the exhibitions, open-air events in a range of cultural formats are also part of the history of this castle town.

Two cycling routes offer a practical guide for planning your rides. The yellow cycling route no. 373 starts in Paniówki at National Road no. 44, runs through Chudów to Gierałtowice and is 7.5 kilometres long. It is considered an easy route suitable for beginners. The blue cycling route no. 372, by contrast, runs for 21 kilometres from Paniówki to Nieborowice and passes through Chudów, Ornontowice and Knurów. You can base your choice on the route length; only the yellow route is also specifically described as easy and suitable for beginners. The stated start and end points help you understand each route as a journey between several places.
