Kłomnice: Church History, Tradition and Cycling

St Martin and the building history

The present-day church was built between 1779 and 1789 in the Late Baroque style. The parish church complex includes the brick church building dating from 1789, which was remodelled in 1918. The complex also includes a brick bell tower and a brick perimeter wall with a gate; both date from around the 18th century. The parish church complex is the oldest historic monument in the municipality of Kłomnice. The original wooden church dates back even further: it was built in the mid-14th century and founded by the local Kłomnickich landowning family. The historic cemetery

The historic cemetery in Kłomnice dates from the 19th century and is enclosed by a brick wall. The oldest, western section contains the sandstone tomb of Father Józef Gabriel Brzeziński, who died in 1855. The initials “LK” and a crown, symbolising the title of baron, are displayed on the iron gate. The stone caps on the cemetery’s brick pillars are also part of the site’s history; they were probably donated by Baron Leopold Kronenberg.

Cycling on FOLGA NA ZAKOLU

A cycling trip along the FOLGA NA ZAKOLU cycle path was made with seventh-grade students on the route Zawada – Widzów – Jacków – Kłomnice – Konary – Zawada.
