Szteklin between Lakes and History
Accommodation in Szteklin
Between Three Lakes
Szteklin lies on a narrow strip of land between Lake Borzechowskie Wielkie and Lake Sumińskie. The village is also located on Lake Szteklin. This special setting gives a trip here a clear connection to the landscape: water is a theme that can be experienced in different ways. There is a municipal bathing area in the centre of Szteklin; the surrounding lakes are also suitable for fishing and water-based leisure activities. When choosing a holiday apartment for your stay, you can consider whether you would like to include time at the bathing area, fishing opportunities or other leisure activities on the water in your trip.
Bathing Area with Play and Seating Areas
The municipal bathing area is unsupervised and has a grassy beach. Several benches with tables, a fire pit, a playground and a volleyball court are additional features of the site. This gives visitors several specific options: those travelling with children will find a playground, while those who want to include some exercise in their trip can make use of the volleyball court. The benches with tables provide places to sit at the bathing area. At the same time, bear in mind that the site is unsupervised.
Fishing and other water-based leisure activities are described for the nearby lakes; they are not the same as the bathing area. You can therefore consider these interests separately when planning your holiday: a day swimming at the municipal site is a different idea from spending time fishing or enjoying another leisure activity on the water. Szteklin thus offers various reasons to focus on the lakes and their surroundings, without requiring a set itinerary.
A Manor House with a History and Old Trees
The cultural history is also part of Szteklin’s character. An authentic larch manor house dating from 1827 stands in the village. The estate is privately owned and was entered in the register of historic monuments in 1975. In the area around Starogard Gdański, it is considered the only wooden aristocratic residence so well preserved. This distinction makes the manor house a notable historical attraction for visitors interested in traditional wooden architecture and the history of aristocratic estates.
Two remarkable trees also stand on the manor house grounds: an oak approximately 300 years old and a chestnut tree approximately 200 years old. Each approximate age refers to a specific tree. The manor house is situated by a lake and has a naturally landscaped garden and a pond. The estate therefore brings together historic architecture and a landscaped garden that has been kept natural in character. These cultural and scenic features can be considered alongside activities on the lakes when planning your trip.
Forests and Summer Events
The dense forests around Szteklin are suitable for mushroom picking. This offers a different way to spend your stay than leisure activities on the water: instead of the bathing area or fishing, the focus is on gathering mushrooms in the forests. When choosing a holiday apartment to suit your travel group’s interests, you can consider these nature experiences alongside the lakes and the manor house.
The summer festival series “Lato na Kociewiu” includes events in Szteklin, Lubichowo and Ocypel and is scheduled for July to August. This means the events are tied to a specific time of year. If you are interested in the festival series, you can take it into account as a seasonal consideration when planning your trip. Together with the bathing area, forests and manor house, it gives a varied picture of Szteklin: a place between lakes, nature experiences and a striking example of historic wooden architecture.
