Piechowice: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Piechowice lies wholly or partly within Wdzydze Landscape Park and is classified in this context as part of the ethnographic region of Southern Kashubia. A 37-kilometre cycling route B runs through Piechowice along the Dziemiany–Dywan–Sominy–Trzebuń–Raduń–Jastrzębie–Piechowice–Dziemiany loop. Today, the village forms a picturesque, self-contained settlement complex around the shores of Lake Gogolino. The oldest developed part arose in a gentle depression on the eastern shore of the lake.

Nature

The “Jałowce nad jeziorem Lipno” natural monument comprises seven common junipers (Juniperus communis) in the Piechowice area, standing 4 to 6 metres tall. The group of seven impressive junipers mentioned along the route is around 100 years old; the tallest juniper in this group is approximately 9 metres high. The protected Scots pine “Sosna na Czajkowie” also stands in Piechowice; it is recorded as being 16 metres tall, with a trunk circumference of 361 centimetres.

Culture and history

Within Wdzydze Landscape Park, Piechowice is one of the villages of outstanding cultural value. In the same park, the beginnings of historical settlement from the late 13th century onwards are associated with the development of Piechowice.

The monument to Alojzy Bruski commemorates an officer who, among other distinctions, was awarded the Virtuti Militari Order and the Krzyż Walecznych. The Chapel of Saints Joachim and Anne in Piechowice was built in the 1980s.

In Dziemiany there is a replica of a 19th-century Kashubian house that originally stood in Piechowice and served as the Rolbiecki family home. The original was moved to the Kashubian Ethnographic Park in Wdzydze Kiszewskie.

Cycling

Route B leads through pine forests with occasional clearings and meadows. In summer, the air smells of resin, while heather blooms in autumn. The route also passes the then-planned “Lipno i Lipionko” nature reserve, which comprises two overgrowing lakes with adjacent peat bogs and wet meadows.
