In Gdańsk, you can discover the city and its surroundings from different perspectives: from the water, in exhibition halls and among the grounds of a large park. A one-hour catamaran trip on the Motława passes the Old Town, the Żabi Kruk marina, Szafarnia, Imperial Marina and the shipyard with its cranes. If you are interested in a trip on the water, this offers a clearly defined way to see several of these sights during one tour.

Other ships offer additional routes. The Lew and Czarna Perła, which sail under the Polish flag, run cruises to Westerplatte via the Gdańsk Shipyard, the repair shipyard, the docks, the port and Wisłoujście Fortress. They also offer sightseeing cruises in the Bay of Gdańsk. Żegluga Gdańska sails from Gdańsk to Westerplatte, Sopot and Hel. For planning your trip, these options differ mainly in their stated destinations: from a one-hour trip on the Motława to port and shipyard areas, and trips to Sopot or Hel.
City views and art
During the main season, you can enjoy an elevated view of Gdańsk from the rooftop terrace in the tower of the Main Town Hall. Visitors can go up for an additional fee. The terrace is about 50 metres above ground and offers a view over Gdańsk. The seasonal availability and additional fee apply to this specific visitor attraction; the approximate height also gives you an idea of where the viewpoint is located.
Gdańsk also offers a variety of attractions for art lovers. The Green Gate houses exhibition halls featuring changing displays of historical and modern artworks from Poland and abroad. The changing works and their origins give the exhibitions a different focus from a single, permanently named feature. NOMUS – New Art Museum includes the meeting and social space “Friends from the Seaside,” a café, a children’s play area and a bookshop. The museum thus brings together several clearly distinct areas. If you are travelling with children, the play area is useful information; the café and bookshop add further places to visit within the museum.
Green spaces in Oliwa
If you would like to experience gardens as well as city views and art, consider Adam Mickiewicz Park in Oliwa. Its extensive grounds include notable trees, a lime-tree avenue and water features. There is also a botanical garden with a palm house. In Gdańsk, you can therefore find not only destinations for boat trips and exhibition visits, but also an extensive park with several distinct features.
