Prudnik offers different perspectives on the city’s history: a short town walk passes sights and historic places, while longer routes connect different sections of trail and destinations. There are also striking architectural and historical details—from the Baroque altar in the Church of St. Michael the Archangel to the medieval castle fortress, whose only surviving remnant is Wieża Woka. Routes in Prudnik
The 4.5-kilometre Prudnicki Szlak Miejski is a circular route that you can start at any point. It passes Prudnik’s sights, streets, and historic sites. The option to join the route at different points along the way sets this town walk apart from routes with an explicitly stated starting point.
The blue Szlak Historyczny Lasów Królewskiego Miasta Prudnik is 17.5 kilometres long. The route starts in Park Miejski and passes Prudnik’s old oaks, Kapliczna Góra, Kobylica, Dębowiec, and Rozdroże pod Trzebiną before reaching Sanktuarium Św. Józefa in Prudnik Las. It returns to the park via Prudnik (Lipy). Along the way, several named stops serve as landmarks before the loop ends at its starting point.
For cycling, the green circular route Wokół Lasu Prudnickiego – Pętla I is described. It is 17 kilometres long and runs from Prudnik via Łąka Prudnicka, Moszczanka, Wieszczyna, and Dębowiec back to Prudnik. This makes it possible to compare three routes by length and described course: the 4.5-kilometre town loop, the 17.5-kilometre blue route, and the 17-kilometre cycle route. Check local route conditions before setting out; for the cycle route, also take the current surface into account.
Tower and City History
Wieża Woka, also called Wieża Zamkowa, is 41 metres high and Prudnik’s oldest monument. It offers panoramic views of Prudnik and the Opawskie Mountains. Wok z Rożemberka, a Czech nobleman and knight, and the founder of Prudnik, had the 13th-century castle fortress built. The tower is the only surviving remnant of the complex. On 8 September 2026, Prudnik’s municipal visitor information reported that the tower was closed for an indefinite period until the necessary structural repairs are completed. Check access before visiting.
The Church of St. Michael the Archangel also has architectural features that go beyond its exterior appearance. The three-aisled church has an interior gallery connected to the choir and the tower. The Baroque altar includes two cherubim and a figure of Christ at the top. The gallery and altar each give the church interior a distinctive feature: one connects parts of the space, while the other showcases the altar’s sculptural design.
