Cegielnia: Discover Leisure and History
Accommodation in Cegielnia
Outdoor leisure and historical memories shape the impression of Cegielnia. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, you can plan your stay around this contrast: should play and physical activity take centre stage, or would you like to learn more about local history? Leisure options include two playgrounds, an outdoor fitness area, and a beach volleyball court; historical points of interest range from a wayside cross to local traditions.
Leisure and Physical Activity
Two playgrounds are associated with Cegielnia: one is at ul. Sikorskiego 105, and the other at ul. Kwiatowa. An outdoor fitness area and a beach volleyball court are also located beside the playground in Cegielnia. The two specific street addresses make it easy to locate the playgrounds; the fitness area and beach volleyball court can be identified by their location next to the playground. The leisure options differ in how they are used: play, outdoor exercise, and volleyball each offer a different focus. For travellers with children, the playground locations provide clear points of reference; those who prefer exercise or volleyball can consider these options separately when planning their day. Check the current facilities on site before making a specific visit.
In the second half of 2019, a modern, environmentally friendly playground opened in Cegielnia near Radzymin. This date adds a landmark in recent local history to the description of leisure options. The 2019 opening took place much later than the reference to the 1920 battle.
Crosses and Local History
During the Battle of Radzymin, from 13 to 16 August 1920, the wayside cross in Cegielnia served as a landmark for soldiers, medical personnel, and aid workers. The precise dates place the reference in a specific historical event; the cross’s function also makes its role for these different groups tangible.
The Żołnierski Cross has a history of restoration and care. In 1990, it was restored by Towarzystwo Przyjaciół Radzymina, and residents of Cegielnia look after it. In 2020, the village community carried out a major renovation to mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Warsaw. Three decades separate the restoration and the renovation; residents’ care forms a distinct part of this history of upkeep.
According to local tradition, a resident of Cegielnia named Wiktor erected the first cross at the spot where he buried the body of an insurgent who had been thrown from a kibitka while being transported into exile. Unlike the dated reference to the battle, this tradition focuses on an individual’s fate and the erection of a cross at a burial site. The two historical accounts emphasise different things: the battle is tied to specific dates, while the local story centres on Wiktor, the insurgent, and the erection of the first cross.
