Łomianki can be explored from different perspectives: a monument in the town centre, a seasonal ferry and protected landscapes in the municipality each offer a different focus. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, you can shape your stay around local history, trails, water or nature. Which of these themes you want to define your holiday is a practical first question when choosing where to stay.

History in the town centre

A monument to General Mikołaj Bołtuć stands in the centre of Łomianki. The town’s history also dates back to the 15th century: the first church was built in Łomianki at that time, and a new parish dedicated to Saint Margaret was established. The monument and the church’s history offer distinct historical points of reference—a local memorial and the early origins of the parish. If you want to include cultural topics in your trip, both details can serve as an introduction to the history of Łomianki.

Routes and navigation

The “Spacerownik po Łomiankach” (Łomianki Walking Guide) features seven routes through the town and its surroundings. An interactive map of the municipality shows the walking and cycling routes, as well as notable points. It also provides information and photos for selected routes and points. This offers different ways to find your way around: the guide brings together routes, while the map adds details about selected paths and places. Map and route details may be updated, so it is worth checking the map before planning.

Nature in the Łomianki municipality

Jezioro Kiełpińskie Nature Reserve is located in the Łomianki municipality. This 19.7624-hectare aquatic reserve protects a well-preserved oxbow lake of the Vistula, with characteristic wildlife and plant life. Almost the entire protected area lies within the “Kampinoska Dolina Wisły” Natura 2000 site (PLH140029). Please note that access to the nature reserve is restricted.

Ławice Kiełpińskie Bird Sanctuary is also part of the municipality’s natural landscape. The portion within the Łomianki municipality covers 328.1683 hectares; other parts of the protected area lie in Jabłonna and Białołęka. It protects nesting sites for waterbirds and marsh birds, including colonies of little terns and nesting sites of black-headed gulls, common gulls, common terns, little ringed plovers, ringed plovers, common sandpipers, goosanders and kingfishers. Visitors must observe the protected area’s access restrictions. Four white willows (Salix alba), designated as natural monuments, stand along the road to Jezioro Kiełpińskie Nature Reserve.

Ferry and leisure activities

In spring and summer, the “Turkawka” ferry connects Łomianki and Nowodwory. It carries twelve passengers and just as many bicycles per crossing. You can take this capacity into account when planning a trip; check whether the ferry is operating before you set off.

Within the municipality, Park Linowy Łomianki offers several rope courses at different difficulty levels: easier ones for younger participants and more challenging sections for older children and adults. The park is seasonal and closed outside its operating period. Also within the municipality, the Integracyjne Centrum Dydaktyczno-Sportowe (Integrated Educational and Sports Centre) has a swimming pool with sports and leisure facilities.

Choose a holiday apartment to suit your travel plans

When looking for a holiday apartment, it is worth matching your interests to Łomianki’s different highlights: history in the town centre, routes through the town and its surroundings, or nature and leisure destinations in the municipality. Consider which of these themes you want to shape your stay around, and choose your accommodation location based on the destinations that matter to you. If a seasonal activity such as a ferry trip or the rope park is part of your plans, factor its operating period into your trip planning.
