Religious history in Skrzyńsko and Przysucha
The present-day Church of Saint Wojciech in Skrzyńsko was built between 1760 and 1768, funded by Karol Szydłowiecki. It is considered the oldest Marian shrine in the Radom region. The church houses an image of Our Lady of Staroskrzyńsko, to which many worshippers make pilgrimages. The building’s history and Marian devotion are tied to the same place.
The graves of Jaakow Icchak Ben Ascher and Symcha Bunim are located in the Jewish cemetery in Przysucha; they have become pilgrimage destinations for Hasidim. The synagogue is considered a valuable monument of late Baroque synagogue architecture, the only example of its kind in Masovia and one of the most significant in Poland. Topornia Reservoir is suitable for swimming and water sports. The Radomka and Wązownica rivers flow through the municipality of Przysucha. To the southwest lies the large Lasów Przysuskich forest complex, which includes the “Puszcza u źródeł Radomki” nature reserve, protecting species-rich woodland with a natural character. The different landscape features each have their own appeal: Topornia offers water activities, while the forest complex, nature reserve and rivers define the municipality’s natural side.
Ruski Bród offers a particularly close connection with the landscape. The village lies in the Garb Gielniowski range, in a bend of the Radomka River and at the heart of the large Lasów Przysuskich forest complex; it is part of the municipality of Przysucha. Nearby, around six kilometres from Przysucha, Zbożenna is home to a late-18th-century manor house surrounded by a park. Its date of construction gives it a different historical context from the museum manor house, which was built in the second half of the 19th century.
