Reservoirs, Forest and Recreation
The two reservoirs cover a combined area of 14 hectares and lie among forests. They bring together different leisure activities: fishing, walking along tourist trails and swimming. Pedal boats can be rented in summer; check before your visit whether the seasonal rental service will be operating on your dates. One reservoir in Chodel is surrounded by pine forests and trees and is used for recreation. Its expanse of water, tree-lined surroundings and recreational use give a stay here a distinct natural setting.
A Long Route with Different Surface Types
The “Dolina Chodelki” through-route offers a different scale of experience from the recreational opportunities at the reservoirs. It is 51 kilometres long, has significance beyond the local area, passes through Chodel and is classified as difficult. Of the total distance, 18 kilometres are paved, 5 kilometres have an improved surface and 28 kilometres are unpaved. The unpaved section is therefore the longest of the three surface types; alongside the total distance, the route’s surface composition provides another useful point of reference for planning. Bike Rental and Local History
The Gminny Ośrodek Kultury in Chodel operates a local bike rental service. The service launched in 2025; in its second season, it offered ten bicycles with helmets, available to women, men and young people. This information describes a particular season. The Parish Church of the Holy Trinity is a significant architectural and religious landmark. Built in 1541, the Gothic-Renaissance building has a 30-metre-high tower topped with a crown. Its furnishings include an image of Our Lady of Loreto and a baptismal font dating from 1616. A sandstone tomb commemorates the church’s founder, Bernard Maciejowski, and his wife, Elżbieta. The period of construction, the tower’s design, the religious image and the baptismal font offer different historical points of interest. Chodel is also home to the grave of Austrian soldiers from the First World War. It offers a distinct connection to the town’s history and complements the religious and architectural themes with another form of commemoration.
