The castle’s present-day Renaissance building was constructed from 1522 to 1532 on the site of a Gothic fortified castle. These include the still-visible bastions, the parapet that shielded the guards, and the loopholes. Dwór Kauffunga is another cultural attraction in its own right: the building at 1 Krzywa Street is the oldest surviving residential building in Ząbkowice Śląskie and houses a museum.
