Castle History and Mountain Views
Grodno Castle is located in Zagórze Śląskie, on Mount Góra Choina at an elevation of 450 m. Its history spans more than 700 years; the origins of the medieval castle at this site date back to the time of the Silesian Piasts. The precise elevation brings its mountain setting to life, while the reference to the Piasts places its history within a specific historical period.
Rogowiec Castle was first mentioned on 8 September 1292. From the summit of Rogowiec, the view stretches across the Central Sudetes, including the prominent Chełmiec and Borowa, and farther west to Śnieżka and the Giant Mountains. This gives trip planners both a precise historical reference and panoramic views across several named mountain ranges.
Underground and at Dzikowiec
The Walim Tunnels are an underground tourist route in the “Rzeczka” complex on the eastern slope of Mount Ostra (653.3 m), between Walim and Rzeczka. The complex comprises about 500 m of tunnels. A guard building contains exhibits and a few documents about the various complexes. The temperature inside remains constant at 5 to 7 °C throughout the year. So even when it is warm outside, plan to bring an extra warm layer.
Two mountain biking routes start and end at the lower station of the cable car on Dzikowiec in Boguszów-Gorce. They follow existing forest roads and are 6 and 7 km long, respectively. The difference between the stated route lengths is one kilometre. The observation tower on Dzikowiec is 38.5 m tall overall; its viewing platform is 32.5 m above the ground. This lets you consider route lengths and the height of the viewpoint as separate planning factors.
