A Railway Station with a New History
Teatr Klinika Lalek is located in a former railway station that once served Pobiedna. Instead of platforms, you will see props used in the street theatre’s performances. A walk leads from the station to the theatre, where the red hiking trail also begins. If you are planning to visit the theatre, check directly with them about current visitor arrangements.
Other visible remnants also point to the former railway complex, including the station building and platform remains. An information board about the village’s history stands on Plac Wolności. Both spots offer an introduction to local history without requiring one particular building to define your whole visit.
Castle, Park and Historic Traces
The castle is close to the centre of Pobiedna. Adolf Traugott von Gersdorf had it built in 1767 on the site of an older manor house dating from 1660. The historic complex includes the castle park, which is listed in the voivodeship’s register of monuments. The castle and park thus offer a focus distinct from the history of the railway station.
Other historic sights include half-timbered houses found in Pobiedna. A local walking route also leads to the ruins of the Protestant church, as well as historic epitaphs and tombstones in the local cemetery. Together with the information board on Plac Wolności, these sights let you choose a village walk based on the topics that interest you most: architecture, building history or places of remembrance.
One destination outside Pobiedna is the Mon Plaisir observation tower in Gierałtówek. Adolf Traugott von Gersdorf had it built in 1803–1804; in the 19th century, it was also known as the Kaiser-Wilhelm Tower. It stands on a 535-metre-high hill, about 1.5 kilometres from the castle in Pobiedna. This lets you add a nearby historic viewpoint to the area’s history without treating the tower itself as part of Pobiedna.
Hiking Trails and Views of Open Countryside
The red hiking trail starts at the station by the theatre and leads to the spa town of Czerniawa-Zdrój. The green trail runs through the centre of Pobiedna and continues towards the settlement of Gierałtówek. The two trails meet near the central PKS bus stop. This shared landmark helps you distinguish the routes’ different directions: the red trail leads to Czerniawa-Zdrój, while the green trail heads towards Gierałtówek.
Hiking out of Pobiedna into open countryside offers views of the Góry Izerskie. The views depend on the route you choose and the conditions. Check the trail markers locally before setting out. The routes offer different ideas for a day out: you can start at the station, walk through the centre or make the transition from the village into open countryside your main focus.
