Rąbkowa brings together a specific local history and a route that leads from the village into the wider landscape. At its centre is a chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Częstochowa; the Łososińska Route reaches Rąbkowa and continues to viewpoints and stops in the surrounding area. When looking for a holiday apartment, this raises an appealing question: should your stay focus mainly on the village, or also on the different sections of the longer route?

Viewpoint above Tabaszowa

At the 7.7-km mark on the Łososińska Route, the trail near Rąbkowa climbs a 470 m-high hill above Tabaszowa. From there, the view stretches across Jezioro Rożnowskie, Gródek nad Dunajcem, the Beskid Sądecki, the Beskid Wyspowy and the Pogórze. The panorama brings together the lake, towns and different landscape areas. The hamlet of Szczołby nearby offers a different perspective: from there, the view extends far across the Łososina Valley.

The Łososińska Route and its stops

The approximately 28 km-long Łososińska Route begins at a junction in Kąty, passes through Michalczowa towards Łososina Dolna and runs alongside the Aeroklub Podhalański airfield before reaching the municipal centre. Beyond the bridge over the Łososinka, it follows the river’s right bank, passes the KS „Łosoś“ stadium and climbs a hill above Tabaszowa. The full route links several villages and landscape features, with Rąbkowa forming part of this longer route.

Further afield in the region, a blue hiking trail leads to Rożnów at the 10.1-km mark. You can stop to rest there along the route or head downhill towards the church in Tabaszowa, visible in the distance. On the way towards Just, the route also passes a historic church at an elevation of 486 m; there are lovely views along the way. At kilometre 13, the Łososińska Route reaches Znamirowice. The YC PTTK „Beskid“ water station is located there, about 200 m from the route. From Znamirowice, the route climbs to Rąbkowa along a series of bends. At the 15.4-km mark, it turns left at a junction in Rąbkowa towards Just and then follows a blue hiking trail.

Chapel and local history

The chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Częstochowa stands in the centre of Rąbkowa. Local residents built it in less than six months. The recorded place names also offer a glimpse into the area’s history: Rąbkowa’s origins date back to 1400–1440; its earlier names were first Romakowa and later Robkowa. The chapel and the changing place names thus represent two distinct historical points of reference—the religious dedication in the village’s present-day landscape and its earlier name.

Choose a holiday apartment to suit your travel focus

When looking for a holiday apartment, it helps to distinguish between Rąbkowa itself and the stops along the longer route. The chapel and local history are directly connected to the village; the viewpoint above Tabaszowa, the church on the way towards Just and Znamirowice broaden the picture. If you’re planning a family trip, you can weigh up whether local history, panoramic views or the course of the Łososińska Route should shape your stay. The marked kilometre points provide concrete guidance along the approximately 28 km route.
