Tenczynek lies on the Tenczyński Ridge and borders the Zwierzyniec Forest to the southeast. Trails and countryside around Tenczynek
The 62-kilometre Jura Valley and Chrzanów Land Trail passes through Tenczynek. The 30-kilometre Mnikowska Valley Trail also runs through the village. Another route is the 74-kilometre circular trail around Chrzanów, which includes the Szlak Puszczy Dulowskiej section that passes through Tenczynek. The different lengths make it easier to choose trails based on how much you want to include in your trip. These figures refer to the respective trails; on the Chrzanów circular route, the section passing through Tenczynek is part of the longer trail.
Geological sites are also part of the area's character. The Skałka pod sosną natural monument is a 4.5-metre-high conglomerate rock containing fragments of various types of rock. The Tenczyński Landscape Park is also home to the Nowa Krystyna quarry and the Na Czerwieńcu geological outcrop; both are located in Tenczynek. These sites offer different points of interest for visitors who want to explore rocks and landscapes as well as trails during their stay.
Buildings and stories of the village
The oldest monument in Tenczynek is the Baroque parish church of St. Catherine. It was built between 1728 and 1742 and has 18th-century Régence altars inside. The main altar contains a copy of Raphael Santi's painting The Transfiguration of Christ, which was brought from Rome in 1723. The church thus brings together different art-historical influences: the Baroque building, the 18th-century altars and the painting, a copy of which made its way from Rome to Tenczynek.
Next to the church stands a detached wooden bell tower, built before 1748. It is part of the Wooden Architecture Trail. So, alongside the parish church, a wooden building also forms part of Tenczynek's history. The church and bell tower can be appreciated as distinct historical features, without conflating their architectural forms or dates.
Another historic site is in Rzeczki, a hamlet of Tenczynek: Villa Eliza, dating from the late 19th century. It belonged to Stanisław Pareński, a doctor and professor at Jagiellonian University. Stanisław Wyspiański and Tadeusz Boy-Żeleński were also guests at the villa. These names add a literary connection to the village's history, while the surviving industrial architecture reveals another side of the past: buildings from the 19th and early 20th centuries still standing in Tenczynek include a brewery and mining buildings.
